Frequently asked questions

Is the Free tier rate-limited?

No. The Free tier has no usage limits — trace as many URLs as you need. All traces are subject to the 10-hop maximum.

What does Batch mode do?

Batch mode lets you paste multiple URLs at once and trace them all in one request. Results are returned as a list of individual chains. This feature is planned but not yet built.

Why no email or saved history?

Hopcheck does not have a database or an email sender. Each trace is a fresh request — nothing is stored, emailed, or scheduled. This tool answers when you ask it, and that is the full product.

What happens when I hit the 10-hop limit?

Hopcheck stops following the chain and reports the last URL it resolved before hitting the cap. A banner explains that the destination was not fetched. This is not the same as a completed chain, and the result clearly says so.

Can I use the API in the Free tier?

API access is planned for the Pro and Enterprise tiers. The Free tier currently provides the web UI only. When the API is built, the Free tier will not include API keys.
